How to pick the perfect wedding dress

Wedding dress shopping is no joke! Sometimes it takes going to ten different bridal shops to find the perfect dress. It can also be hard if you have a expensive taste but not the money to back it up. Well here are some very useful tips on how to find the perfect wedding dress.

1. Look online.

The first thing you should do is look online. When your looking don't look at the super small details like the beadwork. The first thing you want to do is look at the silhouette style and pick which one you like best. After looking at silhouette style, start looking at the different necklines that you think would best suit you. Then finally after those two things you can look at what material you would want your wedding dress to be in. Make sure you either write all this down or save pictures of dresses you like.

2. Set a budget. After looking at wedding dress styles online, it is time to set a budget. Now setting a budget for your wedding dress can be simple or it could be a little more difficult. I was planning on buying my wedding dress, however my parents surprized me by paying for it. So plan on paying for it yourself unless otherwise noted. When setting a budget first write down the max total you would spend on a wedding dress. And don't forget to add to your attire list a veil/headpiece, under garments, alterations, shoes and jewlrey. Once you have your max budget, when you go to the bridal salons make sure they know what your max budget is and that you don't want to see anything over it. It is always best to also start looking way below your budget and then working up to it, to save the max amount of money.

3. Shop local.

Its always a great idea to shop locally at bridal salons near you. Why? Well convenience is the biggest factor. Especially when it comes to alterations. If you have to have a ton of work done to your dress you are not going to want to travel a couple of hours each time. Also shopping local helps support local businesses which is ALWAYS a plus. When you shop local as well you can go to many shops (possibly) in one day and not be so far from home or have too much travel time. If you have looked at all the salons near you and still can't find anything then expand further out.

4. Check the bridal salons dress brand list! This is a big one because if you go to one salon and they have Mori Lee and Maggie Sottero and another salon has the same designers chances are your going to be looking at the same dresses. Now I realize that there really is no chance that two salons in the same city would have the EXACT same designers. But I have been to a few that carry at least one of the same as another does. When it comes to the bigger cities, there is more of everything so just check what designers the bridal shop carries. If you have looked at all of one designers dresses and didn't like them and another salons carries that designer let your consultant know, that way you are not wasting time looking at the same dresses.

5. Try on at least one of all silhouette styles.

So you looked at the styles and you really love mermaid but hate ballroom. That is okay not to like a certain silhouette style, but I highly recommend trying on at least one of every style. The reason I say this is because I did not do this. I love my wedding dress but sometimes I feel I picked it much too soon. I really loved the trumpet style of my dress but I should have tried on all of the styles to know which one fit my body type best. However I was committed to trumpet and wanted nothing to do with the other styles. Anyways if you have never worn a wedding dress before which most have not how do you really know which one flatters your body?

6. Neckline is EVERYTHING!

I am going to say it one more time, neckline is e v e r y t h i n g. My neckline was strapless and I love me some strapless dresses but I did not think it through at all. I swear the whole night I was pulling the darn dress up so I didn't expose the girls. Looking back at it now I really should have found something with some type of sleeve because my dress was so heavy. So when it comes to finding your wedding dress really key in on if the neckline flatters you and if it is "practical".

7. The one.

Some women try on one dress and they know its the one, other women have to try one closer to 50 to find the right one. But I promise you just like your man you will find the perfect wedding dress. And when you try it on you will know right away. When you look at yourself in the mirror, you will feel it. You will actually imagine yourself walking down the aisle and dancing.
